Fishing

Otava River is one of the few rivers in Europe with a population of original brown trout and grayling. Thanks to the work of many people, both in the national park Šumava and members of the Czech Fishing Union a stable number of these fish may be preserved.

Standard fish size moves in the case of brown trout from 20 cm to 45 cm, grayling size then from 25 cm to 47 cm. During the year, however, some fishermen succeed in catching a record fish.

In some sections of the Otava river the fish intended for commercial fishing is given into the river, mainly rainbow trout and brook trout.
