This fishing district is situated between two beautiful medieval towns Vyšší Brod (with one of largest monastery in the Czech Republic) and Rožmberk n.Vltavou (dominated by castle on the rock above the river). One of the best fly fishing river in the Czech Republic, with steep parts and deep pools, which hosts fish stock composed by good native population of brown trout and stocked rainbow trout of good size (fish are stocked from raft to whole river stretch). Other native fish occurring in river are chub, dace, roach and perch, occasionally grayling. Mainly June evenings with massive hatch of sedge are unforgettable, however, autumnal hatch of olives is also great. River flows from the largest man-made reservoir in the Europe called Lipno and therefore the water in the river is relatively warm in autumn and fly fishing season with good dry fly fishing continues till November.

Because of the high canoeist’s traffic, from mid-June till the end of August, there is recommended to go fishing in the early morning or in the evening.
